Caring for Marble Counters

If you want to be sure that you get as many years as possible out of your marble countertops, it’s a good idea to have them resealed multiple times each year. Not only does this help prevent moisture from weakening and degrading the marble over time, but it also serves as another layer of defense against stains. If you have marble countertops in your kitchen, we also strongly suggest you always use items like cutting boards, coasters, and trivets to prevent etching and damages from hot pans or cold drinks. We also advise you never to sit or stand on marble countertops, since marble is more delicate and less flexible than other natural stone, it’s also more prone to breaking or cracking under intense weight.

Care and Maintenance of Marble

Do	Do Not
Wipe all crumbs and debris away with a dry cloth to avoid scratching	Do not use products that contain a high acidic content, like lemon, ammonia, vinegar, etc. The high acidic content can dull the finish, and eat away the sealer protecting your stone from stains.
Clean stone surface with a mild liquid dishwashing detergent or neutral PH cleaner with warm water and a soft cloth or sponge.	Do not use harsh chemicals like paint strippers, bleach, oven cleaners, or drain cleaners. These materials can break down your sealer.
Use natural stone cleaners on your surface as long as they are approved for natural stone.	Do not cut directly on your countertops. Always use a cutting board.
Wipe up excess water with a dry cloth to avoid streaking or a film on countertop	Do not be alarmed if your marble countertops darken when wet. The sealer is not a waterproof agent so stones will darken. They will return to their natural color when dry.
You may leave hot pots and pans on your marble countertop, but we do not recommend you do so for extended periods of time. Make sure to utilize a trivet as much as possible.	Do not drop heavy objects on your countertop as they may chip or break the stone.
Do be sure to re-seal your marble countertop multiple times a year.
