Meet the Founders of Absolute Stone

Our company’s story is built on a strong foundation of friendship and shared visions. Allow us to introduce you to the minds behind our success: Luis, Carlos, and Victor. These three friends, who met as young engineering students in Venezuela, have turned a lifelong bond into a thriving business here in North Carolina. “I think this is why many people think we are brothers,” Luis explains, “…the truth is we are not blood-related, just friends of 47 years.” Keep reading to learn a bit more about their individual stories!

Meet Luis: The Face of Customer Experience

Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Luis Barreto is now a proud American citizen. His journey with natural stone began in construction, where he fell in love with the material during a large-scale project. “Working on that project and facing the challenge of working with natural stone on so many different applications made me fall in love with the product,” Luis explains.

At Absolute Stone, Luis manages the office, sales, and all front-of-house personnel in the single-family residential homes department. “The best part of my job is the customer satisfaction,” says Luis. “For most of the customers, changing countertops in the kitchen or bathrooms is like the project of their life, so being able to help them with that is very nice.” A lifelong Yankees fan, Luis has traveled across the country to watch them play, visiting iconic stadiums like Fenway Park in Boston and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Meet Carlos: The Heart of Fabrication

Carlos Saura is the force behind the seamless fabrication processes at Absolute Stone. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, with familial ties to Barcelona, Spain, Carlos has a unique blend of cultural heritage. In 2000, Carlos moved to the United States. “Absolute Stone presented my family and me with the opportunity to invest, and the rest is history,” he recalls.

Carlos manages the fabrication process and all related personnel in the single-family residential homes department. He also oversees all purchases, payables, and equipment maintenance. “The best part of my job is bringing a client’s vision to life and seeing their satisfaction as their dreams come true,” says Carlos. When not crafting stunning stonework, Carlos enjoys playing golf and dreams of teeing off in at least 50 different countries. Only 42 more to go! 😊

Meet Victor: The Multi-Family Visionary

Victor Torres, born in Caracas after his parents immigrated from Spain, now calls Cary, NC, home. A graduate of Andrés Bello Catholic University, Victor worked as a civil engineer in Venezuela before moving to the US in 2003. He soon joined Carlos and Luis as a co-owner of Absolute Stone. “I feel fortunate to be a U.S. citizen and to have the opportunity to grow our business in the greatest country in the world for pursuing one’s dreams,” Victor reflects.

Victor oversees the multi-family and commercial division of Absolute Stone. He leads a talented team in managing over 60 complex projects a year. “What I enjoy most is leading our team in meeting our customers’ needs,” Victor says. Outside of work, he is a competitive USTA tennis player and has even attended one Grand Slam tournament–2023 Roland Garros. He hopes to experience more in the future!
